Copyright Policy

Effective 2026-10-13

Baegugu respects the rights of members in the content they post, and runs a takedown procedure under the Korean Copyright Act so that content infringing others' copyrights does not stay on the service. This policy explains who owns the content members post, how to report and how we handle copyright-infringing content, and how we handle content that defames someone or invades their privacy.

Article 1 (Scope)

This policy applies to all content posted on the Baegugu website and app, including community posts and comments, images, materials posted on club and tournament pages, and lost-and-found posts.

Article 2 (Ownership of Content and Baegugu's Use)

① Copyright in content posted by a member belongs to the member who created it.

② Baegugu uses members' content only to the extent needed to provide the service, namely:

  • Storing content and displaying it on the service
  • Resizing and converting images and videos for different devices and screens, and generating preview images (thumbnails)
  • Showing content in search and recommendation results within the service

③ Baegugu obtains the member's consent in advance before using their content outside the service (for example, on external promotional channels).

④ When a member deletes their content, Baegugu stops displaying it on the service.

⑤ Members must hold the rights needed for the content they post. The member who posted content without those rights is responsible for any resulting problems.

Article 3 (Prohibited Content)

You may not post content that infringes others' copyrights, such as:

  • Videos or images recorded or captured from TV or online broadcasts
  • Videos or photos shot or edited by someone else, re-uploaded without permission
  • Videos containing music used without the rights holder's permission
  • Comics, illustrations, full news articles, or other works copied without permission

Article 4 (Reporting Copyright Infringement: Takedown Requests)

① A rights holder (or their agent) who believes their copyright has been infringed may ask Baegugu to take down the content. You do not need to be a Baegugu member to make a request.

② How to request: send the information below to the email address in Article 9. Please start the subject line with [Takedown Request].

③ What to include in the request

  • Your name and contact details (phone number and email)
  • The title and a description of the work you claim rights to
  • Where the infringing content is (a URL or enough detail to find it in the app)
  • Why you believe it is infringing
  • A power of attorney, if an agent is making the request

④ Supporting evidence to attach (one of the following)

  • A copy of a copyright registration certificate naming you as the rights holder
  • A copy of the work showing your name or a widely known pseudonym
  • If there is a legitimate reason you cannot attach the above: a signed statement that you are the rights holder and accept liability for damages and penalties if the statement is false

⑤ If required information or evidence is missing, we may ask you to supplement it, and processing may be delayed until you do.

Article 5 (Takedown and Restoration Procedure)

① Takedown: When Baegugu receives a request that meets the requirements, it immediately takes down the content.

② Notice: Within 3 days of the takedown, we notify both the requester and the member who posted the content. The member receives a copy of the request and is told that they may request restoration.

③ Restoration request: The member who posted the content may request restoration within 30 days of receiving the takedown notice. The request must include one of the following as evidence of a legitimate right:

  • A copy of a copyright registration certificate naming the member as the rights holder
  • A copy of the work showing the member's name
  • A copy of a contract showing the rights holder granted permission to use the work
  • Material showing that the term of copyright protection has expired
  • If there is a legitimate reason the above cannot be attached: a signed statement accepting liability for damages and penalties if the statement is false

④ Notice of restoration date: Within 3 days of receiving a restoration request, we decide whether it is justified and notify the requester of the restoration request and the scheduled restoration date. The restoration date is set between 7 and 14 days after the restoration request was received.

⑤ Restoration: The content is restored on the scheduled date. However, if the requester notifies us before that date that they have filed a lawsuit against the member, the content is not restored.

Article 6 (Liability for False Requests)

Anyone who requests a takedown or restoration without a legitimate right and thereby causes damage to another person must compensate for that damage (Article 103(6) of the Copyright Act). Providing false information in a request or its supporting evidence may also result in legal liability.

Article 7 (Repeat Infringers)

① If a member's content is repeatedly taken down for copyright infringement, Baegugu will warn the member and restrict their use of the service.

② If infringement continues after the restriction, Baegugu will terminate the member's account.

③ Other sanction procedures and how to appeal follow Article 17 (Reports and Sanctions) of the Terms of Service.

Article 8 (Defamation and Invasion of Privacy)

① A person whose privacy, reputation, or other rights have been infringed by content may, with an explanation of the infringement, request that the content be deleted or that a rebuttal be posted. Requests are made the same way as in Article 4②; please start the subject line with [Rights Infringement Report].

② On receiving a request, Baegugu will promptly delete the content or temporarily block access to it (a temporary measure), and immediately notify the requester and the member who posted it.

③ If it is hard to determine whether rights were infringed, or a dispute between the parties is expected, a temporary measure may be applied for up to 30 days.

④ The member who posted the content may object by email to the address in Article 9 during the temporary measure. Baegugu will review the objection, then either restore or delete the content, and inform the parties of the outcome.

⑤ Even without a request, Baegugu may apply a temporary measure on its own to content it believes infringes someone's rights.

Article 9 (Designated Recipient for Takedown Requests)
